TEKSTartist - Weekly Wordsmith 011

Sotheby's Closing, A new print, and a one of a kind work from the archive.

Hello again!

Been a wild couple weeks here, but filled with complete gratitude for the chaos.
In less than 24 hours the auction for my piece at Sotheby’s wraps. (if you have not checked it out yet it would mean a great deal to me if you would!) I’ve been deep in promotion mode, fighting like hell to ensure I have a good debut.

Before we dive into the TEKSTartist pieces featured this week, I HIGHLY recommend putting on this EP. It just feels like the perfect audio companion to this week’s design. I’ve had it on loop the past few weeks:

OK, enough preamble- This week’s design is based on one of my all time favorite quotes.

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve witnessed two people navigate a shared experience, only to have WILDLY different perspectives on how good or bad it was. Another quote that illustrate this idea: “Look for the ridiculous in anything and you will find it.”

This simple reminder can instantly reframe any situation you may find yourself in. As my old friend Jason often sings- Look for the good.

As usual, for the next 24 hours you can scoop this print for any available size for the price of the cheapest print. (Use the code LOOK if you want to scoop the 8.5” x 11” and the code SEE for a monster discount on the 13” x 19”)

One last thing: A one of a kind piece from the archive. Silent Auction.

While shuffling things around the studio I unearthed a box of a dozen original ink on canvas designs. These were the and drawn pieces we used to serve as the master for the letterpress prints.

This piece is the original version that went on to become Wild Sea. It was created by warping/twisting/distorting the words from the following quote:

“We need the tonic of wildness…At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”- Henry David Thoreau

Here’s how to get your hands on it:

1. Reply to this email with your bid. (Shipping will be included free for the winning bid.)
2. The top three bids will be entered into a random name selector and a winner will be randomly selected and announced next week!

As always- I can’t tell you how
